New Delhi: As it was in news for the last some time, former leader of the Bhartiya Janata Party Poonam Azad joined the Aam Aadmi Party today in the presence of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and senior AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Dilip Pandey.
It is noted that Poonam Azad is the wife of suspended BJP MP Kirti Azad and has been a member, office bearer of the BJP for 25 years in various capacities. Her contribution to the BJP and the country was not recognized by her party because she and her husband repeatedly exposed the corruption in BJP.
They have exposed the role of Arun Jaitley in the DDCA scam as well. "My husband and I have always fought against corruption, which is why BJP has not allowed me to fight elections and work for the people. On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party has emerged as a serious alternative for youth of this country. The alternative politics that the AAP practices appeals to me and I would like to join this movement."
While welcoming Ms Azad, Manish Sisodia said "Poonam Azad has been raising issues of the aam aadmi for several years in Delhi and in Bihar, and we warmly welcome her to the Aam Aadmi Party."
National Spokesperson of the party Sanjay Singh said, "Poonam ji has worked for organizing people in Delhi from Purvanchal. She has worked hard as the Prabhari of Bihar's Women's Wing. We welcome her into our movement."
