New Delhi: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi stated that Opposition Parties including BJP have no concern for the poor, downtrodden and other weaker sections of the society that’s why the BJP has been losing general elections in 2004 and 2009. They are certainly going to lose again in 2014. Only Congress Party can think of the welfare and upliftment of the poor in the country. Even, BJP’s tall claim of 'Shinning India' was not able to return them to power and their claim prove to be a damn squib.
He expressed these views in a function organized by International Bhagwan Valmiki Foundation at Talkatora Stadium wherein Smt. Sheila Dikshit was presented with 'Valmiki Rashtriya Gaurav Samman' by Shri Gandhi in Valmiki Maha Sammelan.
On the occasion, Gandhi further stated that he is frequently being asked, 'Why he made the recent comment on ordinance offering protection to the convicted politician? I told them that I have spoken only truth. Finding an appropriate timing to speak truth can be implied as an effort to turn untruth as truth'. He described Valmikis as spine of the nation and expressed his commitment to provide them all opportunities to move forward.
Only Congress Party has been striving hard for the welfare and upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. The Congress Party has given legal rights to the poor as they really deserve it. The rich can engage any big lawyer by making big payment. The Party has given legal rights of education, employment, food and information to people. He further stated that the Bill on Manual Scavenging should be named as Right to Honour Bill. He also stated that Congress Party would like to see more and more representation of Valmiki in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. We would provide them education and training in order to empower them.
Smt. Dikshit stated that her government as well as Congress Party is concerned of the poor including Valmiki Samaj. “We have worked for the welfare of all sections of the society. The Party has social bonding with all sections of the society. We can ensure prosperity and progress of the country by providing opportunity to every sections of the society.” The policies of the Congress Party are aimed at improving the lot of people across the country.
