4th Hockey India Sub Junior Men Championship: Karnataka beat Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: The first match today between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh during the 4th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship (Division A) witnessed Karnataka take a convincing win over the opponents. While both the teams maintained a good attack in each other but were unable to convert the chances that they got. It was finally in the 28th minute when Andhra Pradesh finally converted the penalty corner that they got and it was Sandeep Kumar who scored for the team. Just before going into the break Karnataka scored the equalizer goal in the 32nd minute coming from the stick of Abhishek Pal.

The second half was a battle of wits and it was to be seen which team would take the lead and put pressure on the opponents. Karnataka took the lead in the 44th minute when Binih Kiro scored a field goal and soon after in the 5oth minute another field goal was scored by Harsha Devangs taking the tally to 3-0. Binhi scored his second goal and the 4th for the team in the 54th minute taking the team to a easy win today.

In another match of Pool A, Hockey Odisha showered goals on Kerala and which started right at the 4th minute into the match with Suraj Minz scoring a field goal. Suraj did not stop here and within 2 minutes he again successfully went past the defense of opponents and scored the 2nd goal for the team. Hockey Odisha again scored two back to back goals in the 11th and 12th minute coming from the stick of Sudhir Kujur and Amit Chirmako respectively. The team added another couple of goals in the 14th and 18th minute taking the score card to 6-0 at the end of first half.

The second half witnessed the same story with Hockey Odisha continuing its goal scoring spree. They immediately went on the attack and scored its 7th goal just 2 minutes into the second half with Sudhir Kujur scoring again for the team. The team added 3 more goals in a span of 8 minutes and coming in the 44th, 47th and 51st minute and taking the score to 10-0. Kerala by now was completely in the backfoot trying to come back into the game. They finally scored in 64th minute with Imnad Farshid scoring through a field goal. Hockey Odisha added 2 more goals in the 68th and 69th minute and winning the match 12-1.

Pool A match of Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu saw Chhattisgarh winning the match 3-1. Chhattisgarh opened the scorecard in the 8th minute with Prafool Kullu scored a field goal. This was the sole goal of the first half and the scorecard reading 1-0. In the second half Tamil Nadu equalized the game in the 52nd minute when M Abbas Ali scored a field goal. Chhattisgarh immediately took stock of the match and scored two goals in a span of 5 minutes and which came in the 65th and 70th minute.
