New Delhi: Mr. Khushiram Chunar, Mayor of South Delhi today paid floral tributes to the great patriot, statesman and freedom fighter Mr. Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on the occasion of his 131 th birth anniversary. SDMC organized a simple function at Lajpat Nagar where statue of Mr. Savarkar is situated. On this occasion Ex-Mayor of SDMC, Mrs. Savita Gupta and other senior officials of the Corporation were present.
Veer Savarkar was one of those freedom fighters who had many firsts to his credit. He was the first Indian student who was rusticated from college owing to his patriotism. He was the first person who burnt foreign clothes and material. He was the first person who punished two life imprisonments. He was the first writer whose book was seized before publication. He was the first historian who declared mutiny of 1857 as first battle of India’s freedom.
Mr. Savarkar always wanted India to be a mighty nation after attaining independence. He was supporter of one nation, one language, unity and integrity of the nation. He was deadly against imitating western culture.
