New Delhi: At the time when entire country was busy in celebrating the great democratic festival ‘General Election 2014’, shocking incidents happened at the Chennai Railway Station earlier shocked the nation. Two blasts which took place in two coaches S-4 and S-5, of Bangalore-Guwahati train at the platform on Chennai Railway Station today.
According to sources, one woman killed and 11 injured in the mishap. President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the explosion.
In a message to Dr. K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu, the President has said “I am saddened to learn about the tragic loss of life and injuries caused to innocent travellers in the explosions that occurred in Chennai today.
He further said that such senseless acts of violence deserve the strongest condemnation. No efforts should be spared in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous attack to justice. I am confident that the State Government and other agencies will do the needful to provide all possible aid to the affected families”.
The Prime Minister also strongly condemned the blasts that have taken place in Chennai this morning, leading to the loss of a precious life and injuries to many others. Dr. Manmohan Singh said such barbaric acts targeting innocent men, women and children only highlight the desperation and cowardice of those responsible.
The Prime Minister has offered his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and heartfelt sympathies to those injured. He said that he is confident that the people of India will stand united against these attempts to disturb peace and harmony and urged the people to maintain peace. The Prime Minister said no efforts should be spared to bring the perpetrators to justice and has said the Center will provide the State Government all assistance towards this.
