Kuala Lumpur: In the third match of the Malaysian Tour 2014, played at Kuala Lumpur the Indian Women Hockey team registered their third consecutive win by defeating Malaysia with a splendid 4-0 on board. The six match series against Malaysia is a part of the team’s preparations for the Commonwealth Games 2014.
In an exciting clash witnessed today between India and Malaysia, Indian women outclassed the Malaysian team by restricting them from scoring any goals and by registering a 4-0 win. The opening goal of the match came as early as in the 5th minute through India’s Anupa Barla as a field goal, taking lead of the game at an early stage. The second goal of the match followed in the 22nd minute when India’s Jaspreet Kaur made no mistake in converting a penalty corner and take the lead further ahead to 2-0 by the end of the first half.
The second half of the match saw a similar fate, as India’s Vandana Kataria and Amandeep Kaur went ahead and stole two more goals in favour of the team, in the 59th and in the 69th minute respectively, to finally seal the third win for India in the ‘six-match series’ with a 4-0 win in the match today. Indian goalkeeper Savita made good saves in the match and denied opponents to score through two penalty corners that Malaysia were awarded.
Speaking on today’s win Captain Ritu Rani said, “It is our third uninterrupted win against team Malaysia. We are doing a lot of experiments during these matches for better preparations for the Commonwealth Games and things are going well. I am happy with the team’s show and look forward to performing likewise in the rest of the matches”.
