New Delhi: BJP has blamed that Kejriwal government has been forcing the societies to pay bills of electricity for street lightening and water at commercial rates, while in the case of housing complexes of DDA, SFS Flats, Central government and State governments, these expenses are borne by the government.

The Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta said that the Delhi government is meting out step motherly treatment to the 20-lakh residents of almost two thousand Co-operative Group Housing Societies in Delhi. The incremental cost amounting to lakhs of rupees for internal maintenance and reconstruction of roads, parks, sewer, drainage and so on of these societies has to be borne by the residents themselves.

The housing societies have been raising this demand for many years. However, they have been shown the door by the successive Congress governments and now the AAP government as well. In this context, Sh. Vijender Gupta had met the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and submitted a memorandum of demands on 17 August 2015. But even after almost three months no positive action has been taken in this regard.

Gupta has warned the Delhi government that it must act on the long standing demand of the residents of housing societies or else the BJP MLAs will introduce Adjournment Motion on this issue in the coming Delhi Assembly session beginning on 18 November 2015 to force the ruling party to take a decision.

Sh. Gupta said that the BJP will protest on streets against the step motherly treatment being meted out to the Group Housing Societies. He said that they are reaching out to the residents of Co-operative Group Housing Societies of Patparganj, Mayur Vihar, Dwarka, Vikas Puri, Rohini, Pitampura regarding this and soon a Sangharsh Smiti of Group Housing Societies will be constituted to take the struggle forward in a systematic manner.
