His appointment is very crucial and as the board is in the transition phase and under fighting for its complete restructuring which has been recommended by the Apex Court. Ajay Shirke was chosen as secretary for the BCCI.
The three time Lok Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district, Anurag Thakur ahs to do a lot for the betterment of the organization. Anurag Thakur is the son of two-time former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
He has good coordination with the BCCI top brass and also shares a good rapport with the national team's past and present cricketers.
The likes of Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, all made comebacks into national fold after he took over as the secretary and became the convener of the senior selection committee.
Being a politician, Thakur is seen as a young face of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party. Inside the party, Thakhu is the only leader to be re-appointed for a third term as the National President of BJYM. Needless to say, BJYM is the youth wing of the BJP.
