BJP asked address of the Aam Aadmi Canteen promised by AAP in Capital

New Delhi: Amid the fresh cold war between AAP and BJP in Delhi, BJP has accused AAP leader for misleading the people on the ground of false promises.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Sh. Vijender Gupta today reminded the Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, Dy. Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia and Chairperson, Delhi Dialogue Commission, Ashish Khaitan of their promise during the last year’s Budget proposals that the Delhi Government would open AAM Aadami Canteens throughout Delhi within two months to provide nutritious and hygienic food to weaker sections at subsidized rate of Rs. 5-10/-.  They had also made Lt. Governor last year to announce launching of the scheme with Budget allocation of Rs. 50 crores.

Leader of Opposition reminded that these canteens were to be opened by September.  But their whereabouts are still nowhere to be seen.  In place of opening new canteens, AAP Government has winded-up Janaahar Yojna of the Shiela Government which were providing food to needy people at the subsidized rate of Rupees 15/- per thali.

Mr. Gupta observed that Dy. Chief Minister in his Budget Speech this year also, earmarked a fund of Rs. 10 crores for Aam Aadami canteens.  But no initiative has been taken till date. These canteens were to be opened all the pattern of 225 Amma canteens being run in Tamilnadu by Jailalita Government.

A common man has been waiting for the Delhi Government’s canteens where he could get morning and evening snacks as well as lunch and dinner at the subsidized rates of Rupees 5-10/-.  Chairperson, Mr. Ashish Khaitan had promised that the nutrition value of the food would not be compromised notwithstanding the facts of food being made available at subsidized rates.

Leader of Opposition said that though the implementation of the scheme has been considerably delayed and poor people have lost hope yet the Delhi Government can still open Aam Aadami Canteens if any sympathy is left for poor people.
