1. Motor Vehicles Bill 2019: Passed in RS

The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed by Rajya Sabha.

The Bill has been passed with three Government amendments.

The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 is based on the recommendations of the Group of Transport Ministers (GoM) of State headed by-Shri. Yoonus Khan, the then Transport Minister of Rajasthan.

The Bill was passed by Lok Sabha on 10th April, 2017.

2. Indian Institute of Management, Jammu gets new Logo

Union Human Resource Development Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ unveiled new logo and website of Indian Institute of Management, Jammu.

The motto of IIM Jammu, in Sanskrit “साविद्यायाविमुक्तये” translates aptly to "It is knowledge that liberates.

3. World Skills International Competition 2019

World Skills International Competition 2019 which is referred as the ‘Olympics for Skills’, the event is scheduled in Kazan, Russia from 22nd to 27th August 2019.

More than 1,500 competitors from 60 countries will compete in 55 skill competitions at this mega event.

During the last edition at Abu Dhabi in 2017, India won one silver, one bronze and nine medallions of excellence.

4. Mr Christian Feichtinger: Executive Director, International Astronautical Federation (IAF)  visited India who is the head of the foreign delegation meets to MoS Dr Jitendra Singh.

International Astronautical Congress (IAC) to be held in Washington on 21-25th October, 2019.

India has discussed the issue to organise the  International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in India in near future.

India has the experience of hosting IAC twice earlier, in 1988 at Bangalore and in 2007 at Hyderabad.

5. ITLU to be set up Moscow in Russia.

ITLU which is the short form of ISRO Technical Liaison Unit (ITLU) will be set up at Moscow in Russia. The Cabinet has gave its nod for the same.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to the setting up of ISRO Technical Liaison Unit, ITLU, at Moscow in Russia.

6. No. of Judges to Increaae in Supreme Court

The Cabinet has decided to increase the number of Judges in Supreme Court. Government will launch a bill for the same. No. of Judges in Supreme Court will  increased from 30 to 33 excluding Chief Justice of India.

It is noted that government had already increased the number of judges in tje High Court from 906 to 1,079.
