Ujjwal Nikam: Facts in Brief

• The BJP has chosen lawyer Ujjwal Nikam as its candidate for the Mumbai North Central constituency. 
• Mr Nikam is renowned for his role as the prosecutor in the 26/11 attacks case which was one of the high prflle case across the country. Ujjwal Nikam was the public prosecutor in the trial of Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist caught after the 26/11 attacks.

• The Mumbai North Central constituency located in Maharashtra consists of six assembly segments and will go to polls on May 20, 2024. 
• Ujjwal Nikam began his career as a district prosecutor in Jalgaon. 
•  In a 30-year career, he has secured 628 life imprisonments and 37 death penalties.
• As a legal career, Ujjwal Nikam has several high-profile assignments which kept him in lifelight such as-
• The murder case of Bollywood producer and T series founder Gulshan Kumar in 1997.
