India shines at Cannes Film Festival 2014

Cannes: Yet again India is shining at the 67 th Cannes Film Festival, Actor Kamal Hassan headed the opening ceremony of India Pavilion in presence of eminent Bollywood personalities like Oscar winner Resul Pookutty, Award winning director Ramesh Sippy, new age directors Sudhir Mishra, Bobby Bedi, Kanu Behl, traditionally dressed actor Ranvir Shorey and Kiran Juneja, Bollywood Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar in a colourful Krishna scarf by designer Rohit Verma and Producer Uday Chopra in a bright white suit.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in partnership with Federation of Indian Commerce & Industry (FICCI) has organised the activities at the India Pavilion at the 67th Cannes Film Festival this year. At the inauguration Kamal Hassan spoke about how India will be shining in global markets in next few years, while Uday Chopra spoke about his film ‘Grace of Monaco’ being chosen as the opening film at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

During the inauguration and the gala opening ceremony, FICCI announced that notable Bollywood Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar will be holding a talk and discussion on ‘Dance - Soul of Bollywood Films’ during the festival especially for all the Indian cinema lovers present at the Cannes film festival.

At the launch of the Pavilion, Sandip who has choreographed award winning films like Saat Khoon Maaf, Kites, Mangal Pandey, Zubaidaa and more said ‘I am honoured that FICCI has given me such an amazing opportunity to popularize Bollywood dance through this talk, I am sure that the guests at the Cannes Film Festival will now get the insight of exactly what goes behind making those larger than life dance sequences and creating those signature moves that the world follows as a trend later.’
