New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh, former Union Minister Shri Jagdish Tytler and party spokesperson and senior leader Shri Mukesh Sharma addressed the demonstrators. Under the leadership of former MLA from Patparganj Shri Anil Choudhary, the Congress workers shouted slogans against the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party. The Congress workers and police clashed several times for holding the chakka jam at the National Highway.

But Shri Mukesh Sharma and Shri Anil Choudhary broke the heavy police barricade to create a major jam on the national highway. The demonstrators who jammed the National Highway included a large number of women and youth. The police used force on the demonstrators to end the jam. At Dilshad Garden, under the leadership of former MLA Veer Singh Dhingan, a protest march was taken out and the agitated Congress workers blocked traffic.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Arvinder Singh and Shri Jagdish Tytler alleged that Shri Arvind Kejriwal had struck some deal with the power companies, and that was the reason Shri Kejriwal, who sat on a dharna near Railway Bhawan to send three constables of the Delhi Police on leave, was keeping a studied silence on a major issue affecting the people like the power crisis. The Congres leaders demanded that Arvind Kejriwal’s deal with the power companies should be immediately exposed.

Arvinder Singh said the BJP had always maintained a soft corner for the power companies and big industries, and that was the reason no penalty has been imposed on the power companies till now. He said there was a huge difference in the words and deeds of the BJP, and now that the BJP has come to power, it has forgotten all about its promise of giving 30 per cent subsidy in the power bills.

Mukesh Sharma gave an ultimatum to the Central Government that if the power situation was not improved within the next 24 hours, the Congress workers will gherao the Prime Minister’s residence, and the Central Government will be held fully responsible for this. He announced that a 25-member Congress delegation will meet the CEO of the Delhi Jal Board at its headquarters at Jhandewalan tomorrow to take up the issue of severe water shortage, and will also submit a detailed memorandum to him on behalf of the people of Delhi.
