But we need to be very cautious while consuming them as they may be fried in reused oil or kept outside for hours. From Pani Puri to noodles, many street foods have become a part of our daily routine but during the monsoon season, special precautions need to be taken while consuming them. From Pani Puri to noodles, sprig rolls and other such things are made with raw or half-cooked ingredients and water which is not at all safe. During monsoon, contamination of water is common, due to which these foods can be dangerous for your stomach.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;"><b>Leafy vegetables and sprouts</b></span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The risk of bacteria and fungus increases in leafy vegetables and sprouts during monsoon because in this season there is more humidity in the air, due to which bacteria and fungus can grow quickly on sprouts. This increases the possibility of food poisoning. Apart from this, leafy vegetables and sprouts are often eaten raw, due to which harmful bacteria (such as E. coli, Salmonella) present in them can enter the body directly.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;"><b>Weak digestive system</b></span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The monsoon season is especially sensitive for our body, which apart from external, also causes internal changes. The rainy season naturally slows down our digestive system, which is a sign of taking special precautions in eating and drinking. Corticomotor excitability and flexibility improved significantly in the patients.</div></span><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">They recorded objective measures for pain (electrophysiology), sensory perception (quantitative computerized sensory testing) and cortical excitability parameters. (using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation of motor cortex).They found significant changes between all the parameters in CLBP patients compared to healthy controls at baseline. Significant improvement in all parameters was found after yoga.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">This research supported by the Science and Technology of Yoga and Meditation (SATYAM) funded by the Department of Science and Technology, GoI has been recently published in the ‘Journal of Medical Science and Clinical Research’.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Assessment of pain and corticomotor excitability parameters shall help in establishing strong ground with scientific evidence for yoga to be prescribed as therapeutic intervention for chronic low back pain relief with or without standard therapy depending on the pathology. Also these parameters can be used for prognosis and follow-up of patients during recovery phase.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The team also developed yoga protocol for CLBP patients and for fibromyalgia patientsin Pain Research and TMS laboratory, AIIMS, New Delhi.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">In patients with Chronic Low Back Pain, 4 weeks of yoga intervention improved pain status and pain-related functional disability, increased spinal flexibility and corticomotor excitability significantly more than standard care.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The study suggests that in long term Yoga can be performed at home, and hence is an inexpensive therapeutic intervention. He said Covid-19 in children is still moderate. Though children are vulnerable to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, still the majority of them are asymptomatic and only 1-2% had to go for hospitalization. Dr Somasekar cautioned the parents about the chances of transmission of infection from adults, and the increasing gastrointestinal symptoms among children these days. He explained how to identify and differentiate the covid-19 symptoms from other flu and common cold. Dr. Somasekar said that the covid-19 has so far not affected children much in India but for the state Karnataka, and discussed various Covid-19 treatment options for children. Taking the session forward he suggested some measures to adopt in our day-to-day life: physical exercise, playing with kids, avoiding junk food, good sleep, wearing masks, balanced diet, and age-appropriate vaccination. It has been observed that patients recovering from SARS-CoV-2 suffer from persistent and often, debilitating symptoms extending several months past their initial diagnosis,” a ministry official said.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;"> The document puts forth the concept of holistic health, which emphasizes the self-care of the individuals by addressing various dimensions of life and health.
