New Delhi: Swadeshi Jagran Manch organized a Pre-Budget Discussion at Deendayal Research Institute where renowned economists expressed people’s expectations from the Budget for the bettetment of the nation. The session started with chanting of Sanskrit shloks. Thereafter, Mr Rajiv Tripathi, Research fellow at Delhi University, presented a Power Point presentation on Budget.

Later, the eminent economist Bharat Jhunjhunwala, Prof Shivaji Sarkar, R Balashankar, Dr Ashwani Mahajan and Mr Vinod Goyal were presented with flowers.

The discussion started with the key note address by Mr. Pradeep, who underlined that the motive of this discussion is to make the government aware of people’s expectations from the budget.

Ashawani Mahajan, who was also the president of the programme addressed the gathering and said, “This discussion is important because after many years a government has come from which people have some expectations.

“The result of globalization is that nearly 4.7% people of age between 25 to 34 years are unemployed and 20% youth of age between 25 to 29 years is unemployed.”

Prof Shivaji Sarkar, while addressing the session he mentioned the system of the previous government as Manmohanomics.

He also reminded the government that there is a huge mismanagement in Railways that should be corrected first and only then we have to think about starting the bullet trains.

Meanwhile, sharing his ideas for the budget, Mr Bharat Junjhunwala said that an unemployment tax should be imposed on the companies where employment generation is reducing.

“The NDA government will implement good policies of UPA government even in a better manner.”

Mr Bala Shankar, on the other hand said that instead of talking about deficit and inflation we should concentrate on fundamental issues.

“We should bring back Black Money through which we can run our economy without FDI.”

In the end Swadesh Jagran Manch’s Bhagwati Prakash Sharma pointed out that unless government take any initiative for manufacturing sector in budget the problem of unemployment and low per-capita income would not be addressed.

The suggestions of common people were also taken during the Question- Answer session and through written forms also.
