New Delhi: The 4th International Magic Festival by Delhi Tourism began at Dilli Haat, Janak Puri, INA and Pitampura here today. The festival was inaugurated in zeal and enthusiasm at Dilli Haat INA, which marked the beginning of this three day celebration. Delhi Tourism has been organising this festival from the past three years with an aim to usher in a new wave of vibrancy in this fading art.
People in large numbers gathered at all three Dilli Haats to witness the action unfold. Long queues at ticketing counters were the first sight at all venues. It all started at the inauguration ceremony, where Sh. Rahul Kharbanda presented his special magical act with Delhi Tourism's logo. Keeping up with the enthusiasm of people, the festival began with mind-boggling street magic shows (Majma) at all three venues. The age old art, which had once started with objects of daily usage like coins, cups and balls was now redefined and given a grand stage to regain the same popularity. These street magic shows helped create a mood and ambiance at the venues.
The same venue also presented a unique performance by Sanjay, who balanced a series of mud pots on his head and also performed an exclusive act of levitating a table. Jorinee, who was from Malaysia, enthralled the audience with her musical show which was presented with hit Bollywood numbers playing in the background. Besides diverse magic shows by different national and international artists, Dilli Haat Janak Puri was host to an informative exhibition to make people aware about the early days of magic in India. Here people were given brief presentations on learning how to create magic from day to day objects like pens, paper, coins and handkerchief.
