New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today
stated that the Capital city has been witnessing the biggest ever
infrastructural development by Public Works Department and other
agencies. The city government is keen to turn Delhi into an advanced,
convenient and longer-lasting infrastructural-oriented world-class city to be
emulated by other ultra-modern developed cities in the world. Dikshit
further stated that development is visible in Delhi and it can also be felt
easily.
Union Minister Kapil Sibal stated that
delhi has witnessed the unprecedented development during last 15 years.
The pace of development is being further accelerated. The BJP is
feeling discouraged and may not like to face the team of Smt Dikshit during
next assembly elections. He expressed confidence that Smt Dikshit is sure to
get the fourth term. Sh sibal recited one of his poem stating that the Sheila
express is running fast whereas BJP trian stands derailed.
She expressed these views in a function organized to lay
foundation stone for the comprehensive development of a corridor between
Mangolpuri to Madhuban Chowk on Outer Ring Road with an estimated cost of Rs.
423 cr. She added that the PWD has been working hard to turn Delhi into a
city with huge infrastructure of roads, flyovers, elevated roads, underpasses
and modern foot over bridges with escalators. The city infrastructure
must match with the infrastructure available at the Indira Gandhi International
Airport.
Dikshit stated
that the corridor between Mangolpuri to Madhuban Chowk would have length of
around 4 km out of which around 2.6 kms. would be elevated one. The
elevated portion would start before Som Vihar Chowk and after Deepali
Chowk. The intersections like Som Vihar Chowk, Pitampura Police Line
Chowk, Rohini T Junction, Deepali Chowk and Sarswati Vihar T Junction would
become signal-free.
Speaking on
this occasion, PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan stated that the congress
government has taken major decisions like grant of ownership rights in
ressetlement colonies on most reasonable charges, in situ development of JJ
clusters, another opportunity to make application for lal dora extension and
extension of cut off date for allotment of low cost houses.
