New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology & Metabolism and advanced C.T. Scan & Radiology Unit at GTB Hospital in the presence of the Health Minister Dr. A.K. Walia. While addressing the gathering Dikshit stated that the GTB Hospital has become one of the major hospitals in the Capital city. With commissioning of the new facilities today, it would be providing quality health services in various specialties. The city government is committed to develop the GTB Complex as a holistic Centre of healthcare.
The complex is housing a Medical College UCMS, hospital, Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences (IHBAS), Delhi State Cancer Institute and a multi-specialty hospital called Rajiv Gandhi Superspecialty Hospital is also situated in the vicinity of the GTB Hospital.
The GTB Hospital has also been catering to the needs of patients coming from neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh. Smt. Dikshit stated that diabetes is silent killer and it is a lifestyle disease. It is time to disseminate public awareness of diabetes and its complication. The government is sure that the new centre would go a long way in turning into a centre of excellence.
Speaking on this occasion, Delhi Health Minister Dr. A.K. Walia stated that Delhi has witnessed an unprecedented expansion in health sector. The number of hospitals has gone up from 18 to 38 and number of dispensaries has increased manifold. The city government hospitals have been catering to the needs of patients coming from neighbouring and other states.
The hospitals in Delhi have been providing quality healthcare as they are equipped with advanced equipments. The city is becoming a medical tourism hub as it has been offering reliable and advanced healthcare facilities at affordable rates. The city government has deployed 151 CATS ambulances to provide free transport to the patients in need across the city.
