New Delhi: On the issue of funding irregularities come in light by a NGO, the AAP has said that it is the only political party in India whose entire donations are in public domain and fully transparent. Every rupee donated to the party is displayed on its website for public scrutiny. More than 95% of the AAP funding is through regular banking transactions, unlike other parties where most of the donations are received in cash.
Party has said that the BJP on Monday unleashed a smear campaign against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) just five days before Delhi elections. It is a repeat of the pattern of smear campaign that our political adversaries have executed right before the previous Delhi assembly elections of 2013.
The AAP is headed towards a big victory. The BJP is rattled and since they are not gaining support from the electorate of Delhi, they are indulging in a malicious campaign. The AAP had forewarned the electorate of Delhi of such attempts in this week, leading up to the elections.
Party has demanded an SIT probe monitored by the Supreme Court into the funding of all political parties, particularly the BJP, Congress and the AAP. The probe must cover complete donations of all the three parties including the ten and thousands of crores that the BJP and Cong have been receiving.
Since it is the matter of utmost importance vis-à-vis our democracy, we are writing a letter to Chief Justice of India requesting him to set up an SIT and monitor the probe.
The AAP funding has already been probed twice by successive central governments, both the UPA and now the NDA government and the respective governments made submission in the Delhi High Court that AAP funding is legitimate and there is no discrepancy.
