The Dandi Heritage Corridor Project to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's Dandi Yatra and other places associated with Gandhiji are being promoted to attract visitors. The 21 places along the 349 km long Sabarmati-Dandi route where Gandhiji had made night halts during the historic Dandi yatra from March 12 to April 6,1930, will also be developed.  There will be simple huts with basic facilities at these night halts. The ambiance will be simple and frugal because the basic aim is to feel the Gandhian way of living.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The night halts along the route include Nadiad, Anand, Navsari and the bank of Tapti near Surat are to be developed. There will be memorial stones at these locations with his speeches engraved on it. Besides, a sidewalk along the route will also be developed for the people who may want to replicate the Dandi March.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Government of Gujarat is also taking the initiative of preserving and protecting some trees like mango, banyan trees which were part of Gandhi's journey during the freedom struggle.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Summing up the webinar D.Venkatesan , Deputy Director General said that the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, is perfectly preserved in India. The diwan produced the coins and bought the piece of land he needed for the cremation. He had to literally ‘carpet’ the piece of ground in gold coins. This is one of the major wetland of the state which is primarily fed by rainfall, snowmelt from the Kashmir Himalayas, and stream water flowing from the Sindh river and Anchar Lake.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;"><b> </b></span><span style="text-align: left;">Shallabugh Wildlife Conservation/ Wetland Reserve is one of the very important Wetland Conservation Reserves falling within the River Jhelum basin. Shallabug Wetland Conservation Reserve is located in the District Srinagar, UT of J&K.  It is an important aquatic ecosystem of Kashmir Himalaya and covers an area of 1675 hectares. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Large areas of the wetland dry up between September and March. The wetland is famous for its various system including  fisheries, clean water, regulates flooding, and it also acts as a carbon sink. The one of the major significance about the wetland is that its excessive siltation is the biggest problem threatening the Site’s ecological characteristics.</div></span><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The area has extensive reedbeds of Phragmites communis and Typha angustata, and rich growth of Nymphaea candida and N. stellata on open water. It serves as an abode to more than four lakh resident and migratory birds of at least 21 species. </span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Shallabugh Wetland plays a major role in the natural control, amelioration or prevention of flooding, It is also important for seasonal water retention for wetlands or other areas of conservation importance downstream. The wetland is important for the recharge of aquifers.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">A major natural floodplain system. Shallabugh Wetland provides plethora of ecosystem services, these include fish and fiber, water supply, water purification, climate regulation, flood regulation, recreational opportunities.
