Cyril Ramaphos, South African President  Republic Day celebrations 2019
It is golden chance for India and South Africa as both the countries are celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 100th birth anniversary of Nelson Mandela. 

Certainly the occasion  is very special and that is why India had earlier declared to invite Mr Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of the Republic of South Africa on the special occasion. 

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will be the Chief Guest at the 2019 Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

The move will certainly play crucial role in cementing business and people to people ties between India and South Africa.

According to Prime Mininster Narendra Modi's series of tweets, President Ramaphosa as the Chief Guest for 2019 Republic day celebrations.

Certainly it is a golden opportunity for the country to welcome the President Ramaphosa at the moment, especially at a time when India is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, it is our honour to welcome President Ramaphosa as the Chief Guest for 2019 Republic day celebrations.

It is to be noted that Cyril Ramaphosa is the fifth President of South Africa. He was born on 17 November 1952 in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa.

He was appointed Deputy President by Jacob Zuma in 2014.

On 3 June 2014, was appointed as appointed as Chairman of the National Planning Commission by President Jacob Zuma.

Ramaphosa has received the Olf Palme prize in Stockholm in October 1987.

He was included in the Time 100 person of the world in 2007.
