New Delhi: Prof. Kiran Walia Minister of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development laid foundation stone of a Home for Mentally Challenged Persons at Narela in Outer Delhi today. The building of the Home for about 1200 Mentally Challenged persons will be built at the estimated cost of Rs.150 crores in about 47764 sq.mtrs. area. The Home will have triple bed rooms, double loaded corridors, facilities for school, health, residential, staff and guest houses, Recreational facilities, kitchen, laundry etc.
Extra Green cover will also be developed in the complex. She also inaugurated Asha Deep (a Male Unit) of the Home for 200 Adults. The function was presided over by the area MLA Shri Jaswant Singh Rana and was attended by the Pr. Secretary (S.W.) Shri Arun Baroka and Director, SW, Smt. Achla Singh.
Prof. Walia inaugurating the projects, said that our proactive efforts have transformed Delhi into a multi facited, well developed city with numerous facilities for the people. She said that we have provided lot of services to the people of Delhi. Govt. has upgraded the quality of life of the citizens in Delhi.
Delhi Govt. has opened 25 universities and institutions for providing better opportunities to the youth for availing higher education. Indira Gandhi Technical University is India’s first technical university for women in Delhi opening new opportunities and avenues for availing Higher Education to the women.
Prof. Walia said that 6 lakhs girls are provided with the benefit with our popular Laadli scheme and the girls are feeling proud to avail the scheme for their better future.
