New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit stated that her government is focusing on higher education of girls in the Capital city. It has established an exclusive university for women in the field of engineering and technology. The Indira Gandhi Women Technical University has been providing opportunity to the girls to move forward and bring laurels for the country. She also stressed upon the need of skill development and referred to the inauguration of Hunar World Class Skill Centre yesterday.
She stated that the skilled women can contribute substantially in economic development of the country. Smt. Dikshit expressed these views at a function to inaugurate the new building and girls’ hostel of Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women at Vasundhra Enclave.
Dikshit further congratulated the students and the College faculty on formal opening of the new building and hostel. The College which was established in 1989 started functioning in a school building, has since, acquired a beautiful campus which is well-equipped to impart useful education in the field of applied sciences. She expressed her pleasure that the college has been imparting education on emerging subjects which are going to play an important role in taking the country forward. She stated that our government would continue to strive hard to fulfill the aspirations of the girl students.
