Education Minister Ms. Atishi and Delhi Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi recently interacted with principals from various schools under the Directorate of Education (DoE) and the MCD during their orientation on the Mission Buniyaad held at Thyagraj Stadium. Education Minister Ms. Atishi said that Mission Buniyaad is a platform that aims to ensure better education for every child in Delhi, regardless of their socioeconomic status. She emphasized that every child should have access to good education and equal opportunities, as dreamt by Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar 75 years ago.The Education Minister said, “I am happy that the Delhi government and the MCD teams are now working together on a platform to ensure better education for every child in Delhi. 75 years ago, Babasaheb had dreamt that every child in the country irrespective of their background should have access to good education and equal opportunities. It is a happy occasion that on the day after Ambedkar Jayanti, our entire education team is discussing how we can provide quality education to every child."“Through Mission Buniyaad, the Delhi government seeks to improve children's language and basic math skills while also providing equal opportunities to every child. Regardless of whether their parents are educated or not or whether they receive support for studying at home or not, every child studying in government schools will be able to read and write, and move forward with equal opportunities,” said Ms. Atishi. The Education Minister urged teachers to remember that they are not just teaching basic math and language skills but are also preparing the country's future. She emphasized that the future of the country is sitting in the classroom, and it is essential to strengthening the foundation of every child to make the country's future strong.Ms Atishi said, “Mission Buniyaad is a critical initiative that aims to bridge the gap between private and government schools in Delhi. The Delhi government is committed to providing every child with quality education and equal opportunities to create a brighter future for the country.”Also present at the occasion MCD Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi said, “The education sector has been severely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic over the past two years, and Mission Buniyaad has helped to fill in this gap. The primary objective of the program is to take students from basic to advanced stages, which necessitates the provision of an environment that enables students to learn while playing, rather than limiting them to bookish knowledge.” Mission Buniyaad: Brief Facts In the previous academic session, 47% of class 5 students in MCD schools and 70% of class 5 students in Delhi government schools could read simple text. In the current academic session 2023-24, all these students are now in the sixth grade of Delhi government schools. To make this 100%, the team is working with determination. Preparations for Mission Buniyaad in the new academic year This year various approaches will be implemented to strengthen the foundational learning levels in DoE and MCD schools and bridge the learning gap for all children from grades 3 to 8.Children in grades 3 to 5 will be prepared to read short stories smoothly, and all remaining children in grades 6 to 8 will be prepared to read advanced stories. This will help them in reading their textbooks. In addition, all children will be taught how to simplify fractions. Attention will be given to activities that help children read fluently, write without mistakes, and understand high-order math problems related to multiplication and division with a clear understanding. In addition, under the leadership of SCERT, the Directorate of Education and senior officials of the MCD, a nodal team has prepared a joint teaching strategy to monitor the progress of children in detail. Now, MCD schools and teachers will ensure that every child in their school who goes to the school of the Directorate of Education in the sixth grade will be completely skilled in reading, writing, and solving math problems in the coming year.It is to be noted that the Education Department, MCD, and NCERT are working together to prepare learning material. <div style="text-align: justify;"> </div>

He stated — “Peak demand of 6000 MW electricity met in Delhi, only 1 day of coal left in many power plants. Produced electricity cannot be stored, so in normal circumstances, the reserve of coal should be more than 21 days. Earlier, there were 450 rakes in the trains carrying coal, which have been reduced to 405, need to immediately increase the number to deal with the crisis.”</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">The Delhi Government is monitoring the situation and making every effort to ensure that people do not face power outages in any area of the capital. Presently, 25% to 30% of the electricity demand in Delhi is being met through the power stations, which are facing a coal shortage. At present, there is an acute shortage of coal in various thermal stations supplying electricity to Delhi.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Both the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)'s Dadri-II and Jhajjar (Aravalli) power plants were established primarily to meet the power requirements in Delhi. But there is very little coal left in these power plants. If steps are not taken by the Central Government in time, there may be a problem with the 24-hour power supply in Delhi Metro and hospitals.</div>

Along with children the study will also focus on analyzing the changes in parenting style, psychological and emotional state of parents, as children have spent most of their time during lockdown with them, in the past two years. Along with students and parents, teachers have also seen many changes in their routine and teaching styles. This survey will analyze this aspect too. Since “Happiness” is a holistic process, it is important to understand the mental state of each and every person in students’ lives.On the basis of the findings of this survey and recommendations of experts on the same, Delhi's famous 'Happiness Curriculum' will be updated, so that mental and emotional well-being of school going children can be taken care of. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia gave instructions to the concerned officials in this regards.He added that the last two years have been really tough and very stressful for the school children. Due to school closure students have been confined to home, which is leading to a situation of fear and stress among students. It is very important to understand their mental state, to bring them back to the normal situation. People's oxygen levels were dropping, they were having a variety of problems, and as a result, they were rushing to these hospitals. The number of such people this time isn't much.  If we look at the total of two thousand to two and a half thousand people who are admitted to Delhi's hospitals for COVID treatment today, I believe the number of people who went to the hospital seeking treatment for COVID illness is extremely low. Most people have COVID incidentally. Even if the number of cases rises, the Delhi government is completely prepared. The number of cases is increasing at the moment, but fewer people are being admitted to hospitals. In terms of the hospitals, we are well prepared.   However, it is by the grace of God that people do not require hospitalisation at this time, and deaths are also at a minimum.”When asked about people worried about their jobs in the face of newly imposed COVID restrictions, Shri Kejriwal said, "I'd like to convey to them that these restrictions were imposed under compulsion. I understand that we have to maintain a very delicate balance at this time. On the one hand, it concerns the employment of people, and if restrictions are imposed, people's jobs will be jeopardised.On the other hand, if we do not impose limitations, your health and life will be jeopardised."Talking about the restrictions in the areas surrounding Delhi, "This I will appeal to the central government. He stated that the Omicron variant of Corona is rapidly spreading in Delhi, with a total of 31,498 active cases.The Delhi Health Minister urged people to abide by the Corona regulations. He urged people to wear masks and practise social distancing in public places for their own safety, stating that precaution is the only way to avoid it; do not leave the house for unneeded tasks.There is no need to be concerned about the Omicron variant of Corona; experts have also stated that the Omicron variant of Corona is mild and less lethal. He went on to say that "construction workers should not be concerned as the work will go on. The best way to avoid corona is to wear a mask and practise social distancing. In Delhi, there have also been cases of some health workers, such as doctors and other medical personnel, testing positive, but in very small numbers. All of them are currently undergoing treatment, and it is expected that they will recover and return soon. The Health Department has kept all resources, medical centres, and hospitals ready to deal with the dire situation.

Therefore, funds should be provided to the municipal corporations of Delhi like other states.The Dy CM said that we have written a separate letter to the Home Minister requesting to provide central assistance of 1,925 crores to Delhi. He further said that there are wide discrepancies in the allocation of funds to Delhi, which should be removed by the Central Government. The Deputy Chief Minister said that Kejriwal has brought the government's e-vehicle policy to remove Delhi's pollution. But it will be successful only if we make more and more charging points. But as DDA has land and will be able to establish charging points. So the central government should support DDA with funds for the same.The Fifteenth Finance Commission allocated grant-in-aid of Rs 4,36,361 crore for the local bodies for the award period 2021-2026. But the local bodies of NCT of Delhi were omitted from this, on the principle that only states are covered under the award scheme. The omission of the local bodies of Delhi by the Union Finance Commission on technical grounds does not help the constitutional mandate of strengthening the local bodies, said Shri Manish Sisodia.Being a Union Territory Delhi does not get any fair share in central taxes from the Finance Commission and this policy by the central government has not been changed since the past 21 years. Government of NCT of Delhi is only getting a fixed amount of Rs. 325 crore per annum in lieu of share in central taxes since 2001-02 while all other states get an enhanced share in central taxes every year, said Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

Thus all the works of the Zonal Revenue Offices (ZRO) of the Delhi Jal Board will now be made online. The Delhi Government is planning to provide all the services online. The step has been taken in order to deliver services to consumers in a transparent way and in a time-bound manner. This will have a huge long-term benefit, now people will not have to stand in long queues and everything can now be done online through a single click. Apart from this, DJB has given approval to the creation of 49 posts at the senior level for better coordination and to expedite multiple ongoing initiatives, especially Yamuna Cleaning and the 24x7 water supply project. These 49 posts include 13 posts of Superintending Engineers & 36 Posts of Executive Engineers. In addition to these, DJB also approved 40 posts of Assistant Executive Engineer to be directed recruited from UPSC.All Zonal Revenue Offices (ZRO) offices of Delhi Jal Board will be made facelessIn the previous meeting with the DJB officials, The water minister instructed the officials to take strict actions on the meter readers who were not doing their work properly. In light of this issue and a few similar problems, the board decided to make all the systems completely online and transparent.Satyendar Jain said, "This is a huge step towards achieving the dream of a new era of governance that will be corruption-free, transparent and will make life easier for our citizens. The services of the Delhi Jal Board will be made faceless and online portals will be introduced to bring the services under one roof. Help desks will be set up in every zone to help each and every citizen of Delhi to avail the online DJB services and register their grievances. We have seen in Delhi that for those above the age of 45 years, around 50% of people have been vaccinated, and 50% of people are left to be vaccinated. In Delhi, there are about 57 lakh people above the age of 45 years. Around 27-28 lakh people have been vaccinated and around 30 lakh people are left to be vaccinated. But now we were observing that not many people were turning up to the vaccination centers, all over Delhi. We thought that we had to invite people from their homes and make them aware. So, is this is a new initiative that you get vaccinated where you vote.”  </div>CM visited a vaccination center in Rajkiya Sarvodaya Vidyalaya situated at Lancer Road, designated under the new 'Jahan Vote, Wahan Vaccination' initiative of the Delhi government. CM Arvind Kejriwal encouraged those in the 45+ category to get vaccinated by visiting the nearest polling booths converted into vaccination centers under the 'Jahan Vote, Wahan Vaccination' campaign. He said, "In every Vidhan Sabha, the electoral machinery is very elaborate. So, where the people go to vote, they will be vaccinated there at the polling station. So, like this polling station, here the people who come to vote, just the way the booth level officers go to their houses to give election chits before the elections and inform them about the date and other details of the election, similarly the BLO would go to the house of each and every person and will give them slots for the vaccination center so that it does not get crowded."He said, “Those who do not show up, the BLOs will go for a second round. Again, their apprehensions will be removed. So BLOs will be going to the house of each and every person. This has been initiated in 70 wards today and there are 272 wards in Delhi along with the 2 Vidhansabha in Delhi where there are no wards, so if we are to include them, there are around 280 wards in Delhi. So, the vaccination for all above 45 years will be completed in Delhi within 4 weeks. If we had the vaccines for 18-44 years then they could have also been vaccinated the same way. We have an extraordinary administrative structure and electoral framework, if we are to use that then we can vaccinate the entire country in 2-3 months.”CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “It is our responsibility, and of the society and the media, and my responsibility that we ward off any rumors regarding the vaccination. Today so many people will go after getting vaccinated and will tell their neighbors that they are not facing any consequences after getting vaccinated. So, it is our responsibility. People have to be made aware. The rumors have to be warded off.”
