New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted an international module involved in the procurement, processing and trafficking of controlled substance ‘Pseudoephedrine’ to the North Eastern States and Myanmar. The refined drug is used in the further manufacture of high quality party drugs such as Methamphetamine (commonly known as Ice, Ecstasy etc.). Three persons including the kingpin and main drug supplier to the North Eastern States have been arrested in the operation and over 200kgs of Pseudoephedrine has been seized from their possession.

Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP Special Cell Delhi Police said that in December 2012, the team of Inspectors Sanjay Dutt, Rahul Kumar Singh and Dharmender had busted a trafficking module involved in supplying Pseudoephedrine to Myanmar via Delhi. During the interrogation of the then arrested accused persons, it was revealed that one Mohammad Asgar @Akser was the main conduit who used to procure these drugs from clandestine pharmaceutical units who were manufacturing these drugs in Muzzaffarnagar in UP, Dehradun in Uttarakhand and Baddi in Himachal Pradesh.

However, the team maintained its sustained efforts to locate and trace this accused and deployed technical and human surveillance for the purpose. On 01st October 2013, specific information was received that said Md. Asghar@ Akser, who was staying somewhere in the area of SukhdevVihar/Jamia Nagar, would be coming in his white Honda City car along with a large consignment of Pseudoephedrine. Accordingly,the team positioned itself outside village Masigarh.

DCP said that at about 9.30 PM, the said accused in his abovementioned car was spotted and after a brief trail, apprehended. From his possession, 2 kgsof pseudoephedrine in loose tablet form was recovered. From the search of his car, 5 more cartons of Pseudoephedrine drug in tablet/strip form containing 41900strips (419000 tablets equivalent to 50 kg of Pseudoephedrine) were recovered.

According to Delhi Police from the accused, 12 cartons of Pseudoephedrine containing 30000 strips and 97200 strips (127200 strips i.e. 1272000 tablets weighing about 152 kgs of Pseudoephedrine along with 2 sacks of empty Pseudoephedrine strips and packing material were recovered at their instance). The cost of the seized drug is about 10 Crores in the international market.
