Google has dedicated to its doodles to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of the noted and great Indian scientist Dr. C,V.Raman. Today it his birth anniversary and Google has saluted and honour the great Indian scientist on its India home page.
The great Indian scientist Sir Chandrasekhar Venkat Raman was born on 7 November 1888 who has contributed a lot to the world of Physics. He was known for his major discovery in which it was shown that light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes in wavelength. The discovery was called as the Raman Effect and he was recipient of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930.
Raman was born in Thiruvanaikaval, Trichinopoly to R. Chandrasekhara Iyer and his mother name was Parvati Ammal. His father R. Chandrasekhar was a lecturer in Mathematics and Physics.
He was married on 6 May 1907 to Lokasundari Ammal.
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1924 and Knighted in 1929.
He won Nobel Prize for Raman effect in 1930
Got Franklin Medal in 1941 and also awarded Bharat Ratna in 1954.
