Border Security Force, an elite force of the country celebrated its 48th BSF Day. An impressive parade and march past by 11 Frontiers Contingent, Camel contingent, Camel Band and Mahila contingent marked the Raising Day Parade 2013 of the Border Security Force at Chhawla Camp, Delhi. Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker Smt Meira Kumar took salute and inspected the parade as the chief guest on the occasion.

The standard of turn out and march past was outstanding which reflects the high standard of training of BSF personnel’s. Smartly turn out with smart march by Mahila contingent with Barretta weapon attracted the attention of spectators. The strength of Mahila contingent was 45 in which, 1 Officer, 2 SO’s and 42 Mahila Constables participated. They all were wearing camouflaged disruptive pattern uniform.

People also witnessed the heart throbbing activities of Dare Devil BSF Motor cycle riders. The Dare Devil BSF Motor Cycle show by the Name ‘JANBAZ’. BSF Motor Cycle team was started in the year 1990 with the aim to display dare devil shows riding 350 cc Enfield bullet motor cycle bikes. Over the period of time the team has achieved many successes by performing dare devils shows at various national occasions throughout the country and brought laurels to this elite Force. Since its inception the team has recorded its name in the Limca Book of World Records and has become known to the whole nation.

Camel Contingent is part of BSF Day parade on 1st Dec 2013, Camel Contingents are not merely the parade of the magnificent force, but also that of the entire nation. Troops of the BSF on camels, holding various modern arms of combat and the BSF musical band. Contingent on Camels inspired as well elevate the head and heart of the millions or viewers. The camels shown the acrobatics which attracted the attention of all the spectators.

Lok Sabha Speaker Smt Meira Kumar presented the medals to the brave soldiers for their gallant work and to Officers for their distinguished service. She presented 10 (ten) Police medal for Gallantry and 09 (Nine) President’s Police Medal for distinguished service.

During the ceremony, Lok Sabha Speaker also presented the trophy to the winners. The General Choudhary Trophy Winner – 2013, won by 07 Battalion BSF and received by Shri J K Birdi, Commandant, DG’s Banner – 2013 won by 142 Battalion BSF and received by Shri Avtar Singh Shahi, Commandant, Ashwini Kumar Welfare Trophy – 2013 won by BSF Rajashthan Frontier and received by Shri P C Meena, IPS, IG, Maharana Pratap Trophy to Best Frontier in Border Management – 2013 won by BSF Jammu Frontier received by Shri S S Tomar, IG and R K Wadhwa Welfare Trophy to Best Battalion 2013 won by 67 Battalion BSF and received by Shri Baby Joseph, Commandant.

During the ceremony, a member dog of dog squad namely SHERA presented a bouquet to Hon’ble Chief guest. These Dogs were trained from National Training Centre, Tekanpur have an equally significant role to play along with his master and have participated in a number of National and International Competition.

During the ceremony, Hon’ble Chief guest Smt Meira Kumar released two books. One is the BSF Annual Magazine – “Bordermen”. The magazine is a collection of stories of accomplishments by our soldiers who have given their blood and sweat for the country. Another one is “Amazing Camelry Cavalry & Canines of the Border Security Force”.
