New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reiterated that that his government is strongly opposed to any harassment on the basis of nationality, caste, creed, religion and gender. Law abiding citizens are a source of strength for the government and it considers better livelihood for all as its primary duty.

The government of Delhi terms these reports as misleading and mischievous, which appear to be a part of the concerted attempts to divert the public attention from the inability and unwillingness of Delhi Police to maintain law and order in the capital.

TV cameras of various news channels were present throughout the night at Khirki Extension and so were the police personnel from the Malviya Nagar Police Station, and the entire sequence of events has throughout been in public domain.

Despite repeated requests by law minister Somnath Bharti to the police officers present on the spot to call a squad or atleast some women personnel, no attempt was made by the police to do so.

The police brass is now busy hiding its failures of not having acted on the complaints of local residents of Khirki village, Extension and Hauz Rani since the month of November 2013 about certain undesirable activities in these areas.

The SHO of Malviya Nagar Police Station was allegedly involved in the beating of dalit women in May 2013 and the complaint of this incident by the residents of the area is pending with the union home ministry since eight months.

Do the Police Commissioner and the union home minister expect such an officer to impartially do his duty ?

The home ministry which exercises complete control over the Delhi Police should squarely take the blame for the compromises being made by the Delhi Police with the safety and security of the people of the city.

The newly elected government of Delhi strongly condemns the motivated attempts being made to twist a law and order problem into an unfounded issue based on colour and race. People from different parts of the country and even the world reside in this city with pride, and this is its unique feature, which should be maintained and encouraged at all costs.

Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal has assured the people that his government is strongly opposed to any harassment on the basis of nationality, caste, creed, religion and gender. Law abiding citizens are a source of strength for the government and it considers better livelihood for all as its primary duty.

India’s capital is a symbol of its glory and the failures of Delhi Police will not be allowed to bring a bad name to this city.

The government appeals to the people of the city to ignore the motivated campaign to divert attention from the real issue of functioning of the Delhi Police, which has miserably failed in even nabbing the culprits responsible for having burnt a young girl, who is undergoing trauma with 45% burns in Safdarjung Hospital.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues will hold a dharna on Monday (20 January) outside the union home minister’s office at North Block, in case the three SHOs and two ACPs are not placed under suspension by 10 AM on Monday morning.
