New Delhi: In a major development in Indian retail trade, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), apex body of the trading community and global ecommerce major eBay India today signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development, training, upgradation and modernization of Indian retail trade and to empower Indian retailers to avail the benefits of
ecommerce.
At a meeting held today at eBay office at Mumbai, CAIT National Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal and eBay India Chairman Mr. Latif Nathani exchanged the documents of memorandum of understanding.
Both Mr. Khandelwal and Mr. Nathani expressed the view that the partnership of CAIT and eBay aims to bring much needed reforms in the retail sector of India. The partnership aims to cultivate a harmonious atmosphere in retail trade of India by keeping the importance of survival of brick and mortar shops intact and to also promote small traders to make optimum use of eCommerce to raise additional business.
The details of the memorandum of understanding and roadmap will be announced jointly by CAIT and eBay at a Press Conference at New Delhi to be held on April 17, 2013. An interactive conference of the traders will also be held the same day where eBay team of senior officials will have exchange views with leaders of retail trade.
