New Delhi: Apart from South superstar Rajinikanth, who has sung in upcoming magnum opus ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, Latha, the wife of the ‘Thalaiva’ has also crooned a number in the film.
The song is titled ‘Manappenin Sathiyam’ and talking about the song, director Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin said, “My mother is a very talented singer, and this song has come out great. Without any practise, she's done an amazing job. Singing is her passion and I hope she does it more often. The lyrics are very emotional and I can't wait for people to hear it. It was a challenge for her, for sure, as she has sung this song in Telugu too.”
What many might not know is that Latha has worked as a playback singer in the 80s and sources close to the family claim that Rajinikanth, who has also sung a song in the film, absolutely loved the song sung by his wife.
Hailed as India’s answer to James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’, ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ is the first Indian film to use full performance capture in its production process, a workflow that was pioneered and optimised on James Cameron’s Avatar. The film is also the first film of its kind to be produced in its allocated budget and completed within the timescales set.
After garnering over 3.5 million views for its teaser trailer in a matter of only a few days, Kochadaiiyaan is set to blaze a trail globally in cutting-edge Photorealistic Performance Capture Technology, as it rivals and transcends the technological capabilities of Hollywood masterpieces Avatar, Tin Tin and Beowulf.
South Indian megastar Rajinikanth is cast as the archetypal superhero in the epic dramatisation of good versus evil. He performs a dual role with the reigning Queen of Indian Cinema Deepika being paired opposite the younger character. They are joined by current and veteran stars of North and South Indian Cinema such as Jackie Shroff and R. Sarathkumar for a global, Pan-Indian cinematic treat. The film is directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin with music by A R Rahman.
