New Delhi: Under the leadership of BJP Delhi Pradesh President Shri Satish Upadhyay a delegation of BJP Delhi Pradesh Sikh Cell met Minister of State in PMO Dr. Jitender Singh and submitted a memorandum demanding judicial enquiry into Saharanpur riots. The delegation informed that three persons were killed and 25 seriously injured in Saharanpur riots and more than 200 commercial establishments of the Sikh Community were damaged.
It has been stated in the memorandum that the Sikh Community of entire country is enraged due the Saharanpur incident because not only the conduct of the rioters but also of UP Government is condemnable. Allahabad High Court had given the ownership and possession of the land to the Gurdwara about which there was a dispute but the local police did not provide any protection to the Sikh Community due to political pressure and the rioters succeeded in instigating riots in the city.
The delegation apprised Dr. Jitender Singh that on the one hand this is the first attack on the Sikhs of UP and on the other hand about 100 communal riots have taken place during the Akhilesh Yadav rule and it has been clearly seen through the Newspapers that the UP Government is soft towards a particular community and does not take the charges leveled on that community seriously.
It has also been mentioned in the Memorandum that in view of the soft attitude of UP Government towards a particular community and the conduct of local police on 26th July, it does not appear that the UP Government will ensure complete investigation and punishment to the guilty persons.
Hence, it is necessary that the Central Government should compel the UP Government to order judicial enquiry by a High Court Judge into the case of Saharanpur riots and the Central Government should also compensate the people affected by Saharanpur riots.
