Mumbai: Urvashi Joneja's collection titled 'Guarded' was a ravishing mix of east-meets-west at Jabong Stage during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014.
The designer made use of exquisite, decadent fabrics such as raw silks, georgette, net, mesh and crepes, moulding them into experimental yet wearable silhouettes.
Skirts, dresses, tops, tunics, jackets and saris made their way down the runway and were intricately detailed so as to portray the depth of human emotion – drapes for flow, structure for strength, prints for ‘masks’ and braiding for overlapping emotions.
Inspired by armours – in a sense both figuratively and literally; the collection also made use of geometric prints in stylised brick forms setting a fun and quirky vibe for summer.
Shades such as ravishing red, burnt orange, royal purple, classy black, radiant white and sand gold contributed to the ethereal, otherworldly feel of this range.
Two pieces which stood out included a fun jumpsuit with an asymmetrical exaggerated flow to one side and the other, an unconventional two piece sari with a cropped top with an attached pallav and trousers.
