New Delhi: In a bid to know the basic concerns of the common people, now Congress has decided to follow the same path during the preparation of the election manifesto for Delhi under which it will ask the people for their voice and demands.
Under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Arvinder Singh, meetings of the Manifesto Committee and the Publicity Committee were held at the DPCC office in this regards. During the meeting, it was decided to intensify the Congress party’s preparations for the coming Delhi Assembly elections.
The meetings discussed the strategy for the Publicity Committee, and it was also unanimously decided that before giving final shape to the election manifesto, the suggestions and opinions of those who work in various sectors of the society, the common people and social organizations, would be taken into considerations.
Chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said all the members of both the committees attended the meetings. Manifesto Committee chairman Dr A.K.Walia and Publicity Committee chairman Haroon Yusuf requested all the members of both the committees to give their suggestions and opinions in writing.
He said a work shop will be held next week in which all the ex-MPs, ex-MLAs, Municipal Councillors and those who contested the MCD elections, Pradesh Delegates and former district presidents will participate, and their opinions would be taken into consideration so that every shade of opinion could be discussed for inclusion in the Election Manifesto and the Publicity Committee.
Prominent among those who took part in the meetings were former DPCC presidents Shri Subash Chopra and Ch. Prem Singh, former Union Minister Smt. Krishna Tirath, and former Ministers of the Delhi Government Smt. Kiran Walia, Shri Mangat Ram Singhal, Dr Narendra Nath, Dr. Yoganand Shastri, Prahlad Singh Sahni, Asif Mohd. Khan, Bhisham Sharma, Jitender Kumar Kochar, Vijay Mohan, Jagjivan Sharma and Hari Kishan Jindal.
Mukesh Sharma said both the meetings lasted around two hours each, and all the issues were discussed threadbare, but the party would not take any decision in a haste. He said the Election Manifesto would not be a document making hollow promises to the people, but would be the one with a clear vision in which only those issues would be included which could be taken up and tackled effectively before the people.
He said before finalizing the Election Manifesto, the opinions of experts from different areas would be taken into consideration. The Election Manifesto would also raise BJP’s and AAP’s betrayal of the people of Delhi, for which a sub-committee would be formed.
