New Delhi:In a bid to focus on the migrated voters in the national capital, a newly registered political party namely, Samras Samaj Party, was launched the ex-Central Minister, Nagmani in the Constitution Club of India at Rafi Marg, New Delhi.
The party flag is rectangular in shape with 80 percent of its right portion is black in colour and the 20 percent of its left portion is in red.
Samras Samaj Party primarily addresses the issues pertaining to 80 percent of the migrant population in Delhi, of which 60 percent consists of Poorvanchali migrants originating from Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh, and 20 percent of which consists of other migrants from Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, West Bengal, North Eastern States, J & K, MP, Chattisgarh among other states.
The need for the formation of a separate political party was felt for quite some time in view of the changing demography and economy of Delhi wherein the migrants have played a significant role and yet denied their rightful share in the state politics. Instead of getting their rightful power share they have received insults and abuses from all major political parties.
The Congress Party, the BJP, and Aam Aadami Party have been winning political seats on the basis of votes cast by this 80 percent of the population, but they are completely overlooked at the time of distribution of tickets to fight Assembly or Councilors’ elections. Tokenism is shown at best for the migrants – at the time of Chhath Puja or while making a party cell for migrants. Political representation therefore is highly skewed and 8 percent rule over 80 percent without returning their due share of seats and dignity.
The ex-Congress CM, Shiela Dikshit has spoken uncharitable words for migrants on a number of occasion and a senior BJP leader has expressed his disdain for migrants in public domain openly. Even Aam Adami Party showed its true colour while distributing Parliamentary seats in Delhi.
