New Delhi: One of India’s largest Road Safety campaigns for schools, the Michelin India - PVR Nest Cineart Steer to Safety Program 2014-16 was inaugurated today by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport, and Highways & Shipping. The occasion was graced by Retired Justice Leila Seth, Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament and BJP’s National Spokesperson, Mr. Anil Shukla Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Mr. Nagesh Kukunoor eminent filmmaker, Mr. Francois Corbin, Executive Vice President, Geographic Zones of Michelin Group & Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director- PVR Limited and Trustee- PVR Nest. Educators including school principals, teachers & students from 200 participating schools in Delhi & NCR attended the function.
Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road, Transport and Highways and Shipping while addressing the audience said, “Road safety has become a crucial matter of discussion in the Parliament. The Government’s initiative to table the National Road Safety law is to provide safer cities and efficient transport facilities to the public. I congratulate both PVR Nest and Michelin India for having taken a unique and innovative medium of educating school children on the issue of road safety through creative and performing arts such as cinema, theatre and craft. It’s a pleasure to witness a mature outlook on social issues from children and am certainly looking forward to our children leading the change to make our cities safer in the future.”
