New Delhi: Shilpotsav, the annual festival of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was visited by Shri Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment . Shri Sudarshan Bhagat, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment was also present on the occasion.
Shilpotsav aims to bring focus on the plight of artists in the country and gives them a systematic platform to showcase their art and craft. This festival also assists the government by providing an organised stage to spread awareness about ministry's welfare schemes and assistance mechanisms for artists/ craftsmen. Numerous specially handcrafted products signifying self-reliance and empowerment of artists in the country are available at this festival.
The range of products include silk sarees, readymade garments, dress material, Kashmiri Shawls and Stoles, handmade embroidery etc. Specially crafted bamboo and cane products, wood artifacts, wooden toys and block paintings are also among the elaborate variety of products. A few of the participating organisations include National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation, National Scheduled Castes & Finance Development Corporation etc.
