New Delhi: Hero Hockey India League 2014 champions Delhi Waveriders, Jason Wilson of Australia and Simon Child of New Zealand are gearing-up themselves for the new season of the Hero HIL with new strategies, new skills and new objectives. The forward players were the key member of the team’s game-plan and together they steered-up Delhi Waveriders to win their first Hero HIL title after a nail-biting final match against Jaypee Punjab Warriors.
Speaking on his teammate Simon Child, Australia’s Jason Wilson said: “We have known each other for the last couple of years now. In international matches, we played against each other many times but the Hero HIL is the only platform where we play together and have a good understanding between us. We easily gelled-up well during the matches and most of the time we predict each others’ move. Frankly speaking, this is a good for us as it gives us maximum opportunities to score goals and good for our team also.”
Speaking on Jason Wilson, New Zealand Simon Child stated: “The presence of Jason Wilson in the team is a great help. He has played for many teams in many places and has good experience, which is very helpful to our team, especially me. Though we played against each other in international tournaments, but we never felt different while playing together..”
The 3rd edition of the Hero Hockey India League will start from the 22nd January 2014 and defending champions Delhi Waveriders will play their first match on 23rd January against Uttar Pradesh Warriors in Lucknow. The opening day of the League will witness Kalinga Lancers taking on Ranchi Rays in Bhubaneswar.
