Prof. Waman Kendre, Dirctor, National School of Drama said, "We wish to start theatre Olympics in India with around 2000 plays from around the world. NSD is ready for it.”
Sri Ratan Thiyam, Chairman, NSD Society said, “we are fortunate to have art forms that are 1000 years old but even then the presence of Indian theatre is almost nil in the world, however we’re trying to find solutions. There are many people who have given themselves completely to theatre but are economically suffering, I, myself, never did any production due to lack of funds.”
Sri Om Puri, Eminent Theatre & Film Personality said, "I had a shoot tomorrow, but when I came here I saw the list of plays, I called my director and request him to postpone the shoot. I took a day off and now I will be watching a few plays at Bharat Rang Mahotsav. In India, we have all the aspects of theatre like direction, acting but we majorly lack in craft. I feel like getting back to NSD, I wish I was performing today, because the sound of claps energises me and makes me high."
Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Tourism & Culture & Minister of state for Civil Aviation, Govt. of India said, "I believe that whenever any tourist visits India, s/he should have this pre-conceived notion that s/he will definitely visit NSD- this would be a great honour. I’ll be honoured to provide NSD with as much support as I can."
