Chaitra Navratri 2024 Date: The Chaitra Navratri is all set to commence this year i.e. from April 09 2024 which is the auscipisious occasion to worship Goddess Durga and her nine manifestation. Devotees use to worship nine goddess including Shailaputri or Pratipada, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidhatri. 

The Day One of the Chaitra Navratri 2024 commonly known as the Pratipada which is celebrated during the Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. The Ramnavmi which is being celebrated on the 9th day of the Navratarti will be celebrated on the April 17, 2024.

According to the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated during the Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. According to the the Gregorian calendar, the Chaitra Navratri generally falls in March or April of every year. 

The Chaitra Navratri month is also important and auspicious for the harvest point of view and various celebrations organized in the important month in the country.

Generally Chaitra Navratri  falls in the month of March or April in the English month which is known has the Hindi month Chaitra, which is the first month of Hindu lunar calendar. 

According the the Hindi calculation, Chaitra is the first month of new year which starts with the Navaratri and as it observed in Chaitra so it has been known as Chaitra Navratri. Chaitra Navratri is also known as Vasanta Navratri. Rama Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama usually falls on the ninth day during Navratri festivity. Hence Chaitra Navratri is also known as Rama Navratri.

Like Sharadiya Navaratra, Chaitra Navaratra also observed as worshiping of all nine form of Goddess Durga and days during Navratri are dedicated to nine forms of Goddess Shakti.

  • 15 April 2024 -MotherKalratri

  •  17 April 2024 -Mother Siddhidatri, Ram Navami.
The auspicious Navratri festival starts with the worshiping of the first Goddess – Shailputri. Yes, we worship the very first day of the occasion with worshiping of  Goddess Shailputri – the form of Mother Nature.

Devotees should know that the Shailaputri’ means the daughter of mountains. Wes call her with another name as Sati Bhavani, Parvati or Hemavati.

Goddess Shaiputri  is one of the nine forms of Goddess Durga who is referred to as Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. Shailputri is assumed to be the daughter of mountain Himalayas which has been mentioned in Purana. It has been said that Shaiputri is the first among all the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga.

As the Hindu mythology has mentioned,, Shailaputri is believed to be the rebirth of Sati and she was the daughter of Daksha Shailputri.

It has been said that she was born to the King of Mountains. Shail means mountain and Putri means daughter.
