In a bid to take part in the Youth Olympic Games, a team of 68 members, including 46 young athletes. Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore wished good luck to the athletes who is all set to take part in the  3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games being held in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, from 6-18 October 2018.

This is the largest ever Indian contingent to the Youth Olympic Games with 46 young athletes having qualified to compete in 13 sports.Recurve Archery will see 2 athletes, 7 in Athletic events, 2 in Badminton, 1 in Boxing, teams of 9 each in Men’s and Women’s Hockey 5s, 1 in Judo, 2 in Rowing, 4 in Shooting, 1 in Sport Climbing, 2 in Swimming, 2 in Table Tennis, 2 in Weightlifting and 2 in Wrestling.

In the lead up to the Youth Olympic Games, the Indian Olympic Association held an interactive preparatory session for the benefit of the young athletes with Sports Psychologist Dr Divya Jain, Sports Nutritionist Ms Avni Kaul, Olympic EducationistDr TarunRauthanand veteran Sports Journalist Mr G. Rajaraman. 2008 Beijing Olympic medallist Vijender Singh also joined the session to cheer up the young squad en-route Buenos Aires.
In the Send-off ceremony held this evening, Chief Guest Honourable  

The Indian team will be led by Chef de Mission MrGurudatta D. Bhakta. The nominee of the Indian Olympic Association Mr Lakshman Rohit Maradapawho was selected as the IOC Young Change-Maker is also accompanying the team to Buenos Aires.

Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra, President Indian Olympic Association said “It gives me immense pleasure to announcethe Young Athletes participation in the 3rd Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires 2018. May the India flag fly high and our athletes bring laurels”.

On the occasion Mr Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General, India Olympic Association said “The Youth Olympic Games is a good platform for athletes to familiarise with the Olympic Values and the Olympic Games environment at an earlier stage than the Olympics. I urge our young Team India to see the Games as a medium forsportingand cultural exchange whilst giving their best performances.In run-up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, we are happy to extend similar support and services of experts for the benefit of athletes.”
