Today is World TB Day and it is the occasion to recall the government's commitment to eliminate Tuberculosis  by 2025 and its strategy. 

Tuberculosis (TB) which is an infectious disease which  generally affects the lungs. However it can also affects other parts of the body and usually TB caused by bacteria named Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). 

According to the experts, most infections in the case of TB, do not have symptoms appeared and it remain difficult to diagnose initially. Expert termed it as latent tuberculosis.

It is to be noted that in a earlier address when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was laying foundation stone for AIIMS Madurai in Tamilnadu, PM has said Government is committed to the elimination of Tuberculosis by 2025 and government is providing technical and financial support to states.

PM had reiterated government commitment during laying foundation stone for AIIMS Madurai in Tamilnadu.

However PM had praised the state  government for its effort in upscaling the TB free Chennai initiative and seeking to eliminate TB in the state by 2023 itself. He lauded the role of Tamil Nadu Government in  the implementation of National TB Programme.
