Tamil New Year 2024:Puthandu, commonly known as Tamil New Year is observed as the beginning of the year on the Tamil calendar and is widely celebrated by Tamil people worldwide. In fact, April 14 is observed as the crucial and important date for all of us. Puthandu: Significance 

Needless to say, People use to celebrate the Puthandu as the traditional Tamil New Year in the same manner, all of us celebrate and welcome the happy new year. The day is such implortant for especially Tamil Nadu, that it is a public holiday in both Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. In fact, Puthandu which is the Tamil New Year will be celebrated on April 14, 2019

People have its own significance belongs to Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. People from the state, celebrate with fervor it’s not matter they are residing in any part of the world. In a bid to celebrate the day, people use to clean their houses and they use to visit their temples. Intention is that they get blessing from the god for a happy and prosperous happy new year.

The basic concept behind the Puthandu festival and Chittirai Vishu is that people tried to left no stone unturned to welcoming the positive vibes and enegry with blessings into their houses. For this purposes they cleaned their houses and use to made kolams from rice flour at the gate of their door to welcome the positive vibes at their houses.
