In a bid to celebrate the day, people use to clean their houses and they use to visit their temples. Intention is that they get blessing from the god for a happy and prosperous happy new year.
The basic concept behind the Puthandu festival and Chittirai Vishu is that people tried to left no stone unturned to welcoming the positive vibes and enegry with blessings into their houses. For this purposes they cleaned their houses and use to made kolams from rice flour at the gate of their door to welcome the positive vibes at their houses.
