Holashtak:
It is said that in general, Holashtak takes place 8 days before Holi, which means that during this time we should refrain from performing any kind of auspicious work. If you break the wolds of Holasthak, it will be sound as 'Holi' and 'Ashtak,' signifying eight days, Holashtak marks a period deemed inauspicious for auspicious endeavors. It is during these days that preparations for Holika dahan, a significant ritual of Holi, commence.
According to the Panchang, during this time we should refrain from doing any auspicious work like marriage, home entry and any other auspicious work.
Holika Dahan-
Holika Dahan is the important component for the celebration of Holi which is observed just one day before the Holi.
On the day of Holika Dahan, usually the women of the house take the worship materials and offer them in Holika Dahan, which is organized in the evening, according to the tradition. Women circumambulate the place of Holika Dahan and worship by making offerings.
