If the assembly elections held in the four states were the semi final, then certainly verdict has gone in favor of BJP which has ruined all the expectations of Congress in these states. Landslide victory in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and emerging as the single largest party in Delhi is enough to say the success story of BJP The 4-0 lead in these elections is crucial for Congress which will have to face a moral setback just before the Final of 2014.
Chief Minister Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan made his hat trick in Madhya Pradesh, and led the BJP for a consecutive third victory. The party won 166 seats in the 230-member assembly and ruined the hope of Congress to win the state.
However it was Chhattisgarh which remained a major neck to neck competition between Congress and BJP and there was a chance for Congress to come back. But it seems the day was for BJP and h Chief Minister Raman Singh claiming victory after eight hours of nail-biting suspense. Finally BJP claimed 49 seats and complete majority in the state.
Rajasthan remained the major success for BJP which snatched the state from Congress and certainly credit goes to Vasundhara Raje Schindhia whose struggle gave a fruitful and glorious success for party. BJP sweeped a record 162 seats in the 200-member house and leaving the Congress limping with only 21 seats.
It was one of the worst performance for Congress in the state and Raje gave the credit to Narendra Modi.
But despite emerging the single largest party for BJP, Delhi remained a bad taste for party. Although it got succeeded in routed out the Sheila’s bastion of 15 years, but here AAP remained the main Hero which claimed 28 seats and declared it as the historic win. Party convener Arvind Kejriwal defeated Sheila Dikshit by a margin of about 23,000 and presented a comfortable and historic lead in Delhi.
