New Delhi: To celebrate the Centenary Celebration organised by Municipal Council, New Delhi, the Border Security Force Brass Band, armed with drums, trumpets and bagpipes, played a symphony of martial music at the ‘Central Park’ in Connaught Place, New Delhi.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), one of India’s oldest civic bodies, is celebrating its centenary on 2nd January 2014. NDMC was born in 1913 as the Imperial Delhi Committee, two years after the British rulers move the capital from Kolkata to Delhi.

The music of BSF Band will uplift the morale of personnel through their music which is flavoured with patriotic fervour. It gives an opportunity to civilians and tourists to witness and experience the rich music, steeped in tradition and history of the armed forces. Earlier, Border Security Force band was played Brass Band performance at Central park, Connaught Place, New Delhi on 02nd Oct’ 2013 evening on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Not only this, during the occasion, a lots of people from Delhi and tourists visited from other countries to Delhi also witnessed the enjoyed the exciting play and traditional music of Border Security Force Brass Band. And also enjoyed the BSF Theme song “Hum seema ke prahari hain – hum seena taan khade – bharat ke har praant se aye - bahaduron ka dal - Hain Seema Suraksha Bal” played by the BSF Brass Band in a wonderful tuning with heart touching lyrics.

BSF band bagged the Overall Championship in the 13th All India Police Band Competition 2012 organised at India Gate, New Delhi in Oct 2012. In which 15 teams of State Police Forces and 07 of Central Armed Police Force comprised of Brass Band, Pipes & Drums and Buglers participated in the Competition. BSF won this championship thrice in previous year’s viz., 2001, 2006 and 2009 respectively.

Moreover, Border Security Force is proud to have the Worlds only music band mounted on Camels with a hundred BSF riders.

The Camel band has also been honoured by the Guinnes World Records was inspired by the 'Ganga Risala', a camel corps of the princely state of Bikaner which fought in both the world wars. Also The BSF camel contingent is a scene-stealer at every Republic Day parade. The march showcases our legacy and tradition. Playing bugles and trumpets in tune with the tinkling bells of their camels, the big moustachioed and royally dressed Border Security Force troopers will ride camels that march in precision and regale spectators during every Republic Day parade
