New Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation today conducted a workshop on disaster management for around 800 principals of the municipal primary schools falling under its jurisdiction at Kedar Nath Sahni Auditorium at Civic Centre.
North Delhi Mayor Mr. Azad Singh was the chief guest at the event, while the function was presided over by Chairman of the Education Committee Mr. Ram Kishan Bansiwal. Also present on this occasion were Leader of House Ms. Meera Aggarwal, Deputy Chairman of Education Committee Ms. Mamta Nagpal and Additional Director (Education) Mr. Jasram Kaim.
Addressing the school principals who attended the workshop, Mr. Azad Singh said that in the next phase, the training on disaster management will be imparted to the municipal teachers’ batch of 30 with 10 from one school each.

`“This training will not only guide the teachers and school principals on how to minimise the loss of lives and property during any natural or man-made disaster but also spread the message among the students,” he said.
Chairman, Education Committee, Mr. Ram Kishan Bansiwal said that the horrendous view of Uttarakhand still haunts us. “Taking a lesson from it, we must keep ourselves prepared to deal with it. Delhi falls under seismic zone which means the chances of high frequency earthquake cannot be denied. This workshop is an effort to prepare our principals, teachers and students to deal with such a disaster,” he said.
Orientation on disaster management was detailed through audio visual presentation.
