New Delhi: The Delhi government today recommended to the Lieutenant Governor to order a magisterial inquiry on how Nido Tainam, a college student from Arunachal Pradesh, died following a murderous assault on him in the Lajpat Nagar market on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal strongly condemned the gruesome and inhuman incident. He said his government will adopt a zero tolerance policy towards such unacceptable behavior since people from all parts of the country and those belonging to other countries, residing in Delhi are its pride.
The loss of an innocent life raises serious questions about the functioning of law enforcement agencies and it needs to be probed how the alleged beating of this student reportedly took place in full public view.
Delhi, being the national capital must set an example for peaceful co-existence and harmony. There is no place for elements trying to spread hatred against people belonging to any particular part of the country.
