BJP Delhi Pradesh President Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that Delhi will be provided the status of full-fledged state when BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi, comes to power at centre.
He said that crores of people of National Capital Region face various administrative and other difficulties because Delhi has not been provided full statehood. Due to multi agency system in Delhi, pace of development work remain slow. Files related to the decisions of public welfare travel from one department to another and the people do not get the benefit of the schemes soon.
During the NDA Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a proposal was brought in Parliament to provide full statehood to Delhi. Unfortunately, this Government did not last long and Delhi could not be provided the status of full-fledged state. BJP has always been in favor of making Delhi a state with all the powers and facilities. This time, the people of Delhi will make the BJP candidates victorious on all the seven lok Sabha seats so that the long awaited dream of making Delhi a full-fledged state may be realized.
He further said that Congress has been in power at center for the last 10 years and Congress Government led by Sheila Dikshit ruled Delhi for the last 15 years. But due to double standards of Congress Party, full statehood could not be provided to Delhi. When BJP was in power at centre, Sheila Dikshit had taken out a march to Rashtrapati Bhawan demanding full statehood to Delhi. She remained the Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years but did not try seriously to get full statehood for Delhi. This is the reason why no decision could be taken in this regard.
In its manifestoes, Congress Party has time and again promised to provide full statehood to Delhi but the Congress Party betrayed the people of Delhi by not fulfilling its promise, although Congress was in power both at Centre and Delhi. Now, the Congress Party has changed its stand. Former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and all the other Congress leaders say that the multi agency system should come to an end in Delhi but they are avoiding the issue of full statehood. After coming to power at centre, Delhi BJP will use its all the powers to make Delhi a full-fledged state.
