Sharad Navratri 2025 celebrations begin on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, and ends on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, with Dussehra on October 2nd, 2025. Devotees dedicate these nine nights to Goddess Durga, starting on the lunar month of Ashwin's first day.
The 9-day celebration is basically the occasion when devotees use to worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga with full fervor. Navratri..which literally means the " nine nights" is the most significant festivals of the Hindu in which nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped by the devotess-Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani,Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidhatri.
Navratri use to celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across the country as it has its own importance in terms of the victory good over evil. and is celebrated with immense importance. Navratri is dedicated to the worship of the goddess Durga in her various forms. It typically occurs in the Hindu calendar month of Ashwin (usually in September or October) and culminates with Dussehra or Vijayadashami.
There are two important occassions when we celebrate Navratra in a year, commonly known as Chaita Navratri and Sharad Navratri.
As per the Hindu mythology, Goddess Durga killed the mighty demon Mahishasura in a bid to free the save the people and earth from the atrocities during Shardiya Navratri. It has been said that the different avatar of the goddess have killed the various demons on several occasions as mentioned in the religious books.
Navratri is generally celebrated two times in the year-in the Winter and other in Summer...which is known as Chaitra Navratri 2025 commonly known as the Pratipada is the beginning of the Navaratri which is celebrated during the Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra.
In a bid to celebrate
the Navratra, devotees use to worship the same deity, performing different
rituals.
During Navratri, devotees worship the goddess Durga in her different forms on each of the nine nights. As per the Hindu Panchang, Navratri is celebration for Nine Days and during these day, devotees use to worship the Nine crucial manifestation of Goddess Durga which are-Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani,Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidhatri.
Here's a brief overview of the nine forms of Durga and the associated days:
Day 1 (Pratipada)- September 22,2025 : Devotees worship Shailaputri, the daughter of the mountains. She is depicted riding a bull and holding a trident.
Day 2 (Dwitiya)-September 23, 2025 - : Devotees worship Brahmacharini, the goddess who symbolizes spirituality and devotion. She is depicted as a meditating ascetic.
Day 3 (Tritiya) September 24 - Tritiya (Chandraghanta Puja): Devotees worship Chandraghanta, who is known for her bravery and courage. She is depicted with a crescent moon on her forehead.
Day 4 (Chaturthi) September 25: Devotees worship Kushmanda, the creator of the universe. She is depicted as having eight arms.
Day 5 (Panchami) September 26, 2025: Devotees worship Skandamata, the mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya), who is the god of war.
Day 6 (Shashthi) September 27, 2025 - Shashthi: Devotees worship Katyayani, who is known for her fierce form. She is often depicted with four hands.
Day 7 (Saptami) September 28, 2025 : Devotees worship Kalaratri, a fierce form of Durga who is believed to destroy all darkness and ignorance.
Day 8 (Ashtami) September 29, 2025: Devotees worship Mahagauri, the goddess of purity and serenity. She is depicted as extremely fair.
Day 9 (Navami) September 30, 2025 : Devotees worship Siddhidatri, the goddess who is believed to grant supernatural powers to her devotees.

Shailputri is assumed to be the daughter of mountain Himalayas which has been mentioned in Purana. It has been said that Shaiputri is the first among all the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga.
