New Delhi: East Delhi Municipal Corporation launched a special ‘Sanitation-cum-cleanliness Drive’ to improve the level of cleanliness and sanitation during the ensuing festive season. The drive will begin from J&K Block, Kishan Kunj, Laxmi Nagar, ward no. 221.
Mayor of East Delhi, Mr. Ram Narayan Dubey while launching the Drive informed that the drive will continue till March 15 and emphasis would be on cleaning and maintenance of parks, municipal buildings, market areas, religious / historical places. He said that the drive will include an action plan with date-wise, ward-wise and zone-wise details. He also appealed the citizens, RWAs, market associations and school children to seek their active participation. Students and teachers of municipal schools would also be sensitized about the drive.
On the occasion Leader of House, Mr. B.B.Tyagi said that the drive will focus on cleanliness of drains, dhalaos, removal of malba, dustbins and removal of silt and garbage from open sites. An equal focus will be on maintenance of roads, removal of debris, removal of encroachments from public land, upkeep of parks, pruning of trees, removal of horticulture waste from parks, roadsides, lanes etc.
East Delhi Commissioner S Kumaraswamy informed that cleanliness in unauthorized colonies & slum clusters would also be a part of this drive. He further requested the citizens for any
On the occasion Standing Committee Chairman, Mr. Sanjay Surjan said that through this drive corporation will especially focus on complete improvement of the area including collection and disposal of solid waste, malba, cleanliness of pedestrian paths, repair of services and tree plantation. He added that citizens can also make complaints about sanitation on Facebook page of East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
The Additional Commissioners and heads of departments will carry regular field inspections of areas to monitor the drive and to see what kind of improvement is required in particular area.
